You can do the impossible

How to recover your Hacked Facebook Page

Introduction

It’s been a long time, but I’m finally back. In recent years, I’ve received many requests from people trying to recover their hacked Facebook Pages. The main problem is the vast number of incidents, which means getting a response from Facebook Support can take a long time.

That is why I decided to document the exact process you can use to recover a hacked Facebook Page within 48-72 hours.

If your Facebook Page does not have a Blue Verification Badge, proving who the real Page Owner is can be extremely difficult. Any valid Facebook profile can be assigned as an administrator, and Facebook does not provide a dedicated recovery option for stolen Pages.

THE STORY

A short time ago, my friend DJ Asher noticed that he was no longer the Page Owner of his Facebook Page. Instead, an unfamiliar profile had taken control. The attacker had not changed anything yet, probably to avoid exposing their access.

My first advice was to report the compromised account through the Facebook Hacked form by selecting “Someone else got into my account without my permission.” Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, getting a response through the standard recovery process can take a long time.

The next step was to find a situation in which Facebook would respond within 72 hours while still addressing the stolen Page.

The impossible becomes possible. Once a Facebook Page is stolen and the legitimate owner loses access, the attacker is also using the identity and content associated with that person or business. This means the situation can be reported as a potential Copyright or Trademark infringement, which is handled by Facebook’s Legal Department.

Unlike a standard support request, a valid intellectual property complaint creates legal obligations. Online platforms are required to act quickly after receiving a valid infringement notice. If they ignore it, they may lose their legal protection as intermediaries and become exposed to substantial liability and damages. This is why reports reaching the Legal Department are usually reviewed much faster than ordinary support tickets.

The steps

Follow the process shown in the video and submit the report. After applying, verify your email address and regularly check both your inbox and Facebook Support for a response.

Important: You need evidence showing that the content and identity associated with the hacked Page belong to you. Some of its photos, videos or posts should also appear on your other official social media accounts.

In the field “Where can we see an authorized example of your work?”, provide links to those accounts and relevant examples of the original content. You can also attach screenshots showing that you are logged in to those accounts, helping demonstrate that you are the legitimate owner and not an impostor.

FACEBOOK'S RESPONSE

After submitting the report, you should receive an email from the Facebook Legal Department asking you to identify the copyrighted content and explain how your rights are being infringed.
Hi,

It looks like your copyright report concerns an entire Page, group, or profile that contains many individual photos, posts and other pieces of content.

It’s unclear to us that you own the copyright in all these various items, or that all these various items would be infringing your copyrighted works.

So that we can better understand your report, please provide the following:
- A link (URL) to an authorized example of your copyrighted work or a detailed description of each copyrighted work that you allege is being infringed.
- A link (URL) to the post, photo or other item(s) you’re reporting, which can be found by clicking either directly on the content or on the time and date that appears in gray with the content (ex: "8 hours ago").

If a link isn't available, provide a detailed description of where it appears on Facebook, including the name of the person who posted it and the time they posted it.

- An explanation of how you believe the content you’ve reported infringes your rights.

If you believe some legal right other than copyright has been violated, such as trademark rights, please identify that right and include your basis for asserting it.

Once we’ve received this additional information, we’ll be happy to look into the matter further.

Thanks,
Facebook
Reply with the following information, adapted to your case:
Hello,

Almost all the photos and videos published on the Page I reported can also be found on my other official social media accounts.

On [insert_date], I noticed that the Facebook Page was no longer listed in my “Your Pages” section.

So far, the attacker does not appear to have changed the Page. My posts, content and About section remain untouched.

Below is a list of the official accounts connected to my hacked Facebook Page, where you can find the original music, videos and photos:

Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/your_account
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/your_account
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/your_account
SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/your_account
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/your_account
Twitter: https://twitter.com/your_account
Blog: https://www.your_blog.tld/

I also found an unauthorized device from [Country/City] under Security and Login → Where You’re Logged In. I immediately reset my password and logged out of all active sessions.

Please let me know if you need any additional information to verify my identity and restore my access to the Facebook Page.

All the best,
[your_name]
After reviewing the information, Facebook will ask whether you want to continue with the intellectual property claim, which could result in the Page being permanently removed, or have the request forwarded to the team responsible for Page administration changes.
Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. Based on the information provided, it is unclear whether you're making an intellectual property claim or requesting an admin change for a Page or group.

Please note that intellectual property claims can result in the permanent removal of the content you're reporting from Facebook.

We can't change the admins of a Page or group based on an intellectual property claim.

If you're requesting an admin change for a Page or group, a different team at Facebook might be able to help you with that issue.

If you'd like us to forward your request to that team, please reply to this message with the following information:

* A link to the Facebook profile of the person requesting an admin change for a Page or group.

If you're submitting this request on behalf of someone else, please provide a link to their profile, and the team will follow up with them directly.

* A link to the Facebook Page or group you're requesting an admin change for[...]

If instead you'd like to continue with your intellectual property claim, understanding that the reported content may be removed from Facebook, please respond to this message confirming this and we will look into the matter further.

Thanks,
Facebook
Since the objective is to recover the Page rather than remove it, reply with:
Hello,

The Page has already reached almost [X] followers, so I do not want it to be removed. I want to regain access and continue using it.

Please forward my request to the team responsible for Page administration changes.

Profile requesting the administration change:
https://www.facebook.com/your_facebook_profile

Hacked Facebook Page:
https://www.facebook.com/your_hacked_facebook_page/

Please let me know if you need any additional information to restore my access to the Page.

All the best,
[your_name]
After Facebook processes the request, check the “Your Pages” section of your account.

Mission accomplished.

SECURE YOUR ACCOUNT

Recovering the Page is only the first step. Before considering the incident closed:
  • Remove any unknown profiles with access to the Page.
  • Change your Facebook password and log out of all active sessions.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  • Review the email addresses, phone numbers and recovery methods connected to your account.
  • Check the Page roles again and confirm that no unauthorized administrator remains.
The recovery is not complete until the attacker has no way to regain access.
